Road trip, Day 1

We embarked on our road trip yesterday, and it was a great first day! We left bright and early from Mama Judy’s house and headed to St. Louis.

Josie looked SO big sitting here in her sunglasses and ear buds!

The kids are getting little bits of electronic time in the car each day, but we are also doing some reading, some math practice, and we have some audio books we are listening to. Also, I am perfectly fine with them just being bored for a bit. Kids need to be bored. 🙂

When we got to St. Louis, we made our first stop at the Arch. The kids thought it was cool, but it was under a ton of construction, so it wasn’t as much fun as the last time Jake and I went there. We let the kids look at the Mississippi River, and then found some shade to eat our picnic lunch in (because it was HOT).

After the Arch, we headed to the zoo to meet my friends Jessi and Corey and their little girl. Our kiddos LOVED the zoo so much! The biggest hits were the penguins, the polar bears, the hippos, and sting rays (they LOVED getting to pet the sting rays!)

Shelby really liked Jack’s hair. 🙂

After the zoo, we all headed to Pi Pizzeria for some of the best pizza ever. If you are ever in St. Louis, you MUST go to Pi. Then we headed to Fritz’s Frozen Custard, because duh, frozen custard is the best. 🙂

We stayed at Corey and Jessi’s for the night, because they are the sweetest- I am SO glad we got to see them! What a great start to our trip!
