Weekending

This weekend was friend-filled and fun. Friday night we had a shindig at our house with some friends from church. We grilled and just hung out outside while the kids ran around the yard and had good kid summer-time fun- chasing frogs and fireflies, playing tag and flashlight hide and seek, and claiming they found a snake in the garden. That’s the stuff good childhoods are made of. 🙂 The only bummer part of the night was that Jack puked right before dinner was ready, and then I had to quarantine him for the rest of the night. 🙁 Poor buddy was so sad, because he had been looking forward to getting to play with everyone for days! I felt so bad for him, but I didn’t want to risk spreading a bug if he had one. Turns out, I am 99 % sure he was dehydrated and just overheated, so he probably would have been fine to go play…but hindsight is 20/20.

Saturday I took Josie to her second summer art lesson, and my friend Gloria and I went to breakfast while the kids were at the lesson. I love getting to hang out with her, and it was nice to have some “girl” hang out time. 🙂

Sunday afternoon we were invited to our church friends’ house for their little boy’s first birthday party! Jake stayed home to catch up on some work, but the kids and I went. We were all melting by the end because it was so hot, but the kids had a blast running around with their friends in the sprinklers, and it was fun to get to talk to some people that I don’t always have time to talk to at church. 🙂

Happy Birthday, Abe!

Today the kids started swimming lessons, and I totally forgot to get a picture. They both did SO good, already better than last year! Jack has been SO excited to start-he has literally asked me at least once a week since December when it would be time to start swimming lessons, so I thought he would die from excitement when I was finally able to tell him that TODAY was the day!
