One reason I love summer break is that I get to check so many things off my to do list that I just don’t have time to do during the school year. I always have a list a mile long of things I want to accomplish during the summer. I don’t always finish all of them, but it’s always good to have a list…I get SO much satisfaction from crossing things out! 🙂
This week I have gotten to cross a BUNCH of things off my list. It has been a very productive three days! This week has been beautiful weather, and the kids didn’t really have anything scheduled at all, so I knew it would be the perfect week to get some things crossed off. (Because the rest of June is kind of crazy, schedule-wise, plus the garden is going to start coming in soon!)
Monday after I ran I weed-eated the whole yard. We generally only get this done a few times over the summer, because it is a big job. It hadn’t been done yet, and the yard was in need. After I weed eated, the kids and I ran to Lowe’s and to the mulch place. After lunch I weeded all the flower beds and put new mulch down. Needless to say, I was TIRED after all that work, but it was a good tired, because I had gotten so much accomplished!
Tuesday I got into cleaning out the kids’ rooms almost by mistake. I didn’t really mean to start it that day, it just happened. And before you knew it, all their toys were cleaned out, and I had even sold Jack’s train table! (In 45 minutes on Facebook!) He had really outgrown it, and he was happy to swap it for a car rug. Plus, they were THRILLED with all the open space in Jack’s room now!
After lunch, the kids and I went and delivered the table and ran some errands. When we got home, I started painting all of our patio furniture. Some got spray paint, and some got polyurethane. Josie loves to help my polyurethane things.
I painted until dark, and then we had a Chinese food movie night (when I finally got to introduce the kids to The Sandlot!)
Today was a fun day, but still productive! We woke up to our power being off for some strange reason, so after I ran and took a shower, I got the kids dressed and we visited Nana so that I could fix my hair and we could all eat breakfast (we were out of milk, and I had planned to cook this morning!). Then we headed to JECA to do a task and then it was on to a playdate at our church friends’ house. They have a little boy that Jack says is his very best friend. 🙂
The kids had a great time, and I had a great time getting to talk to one of my good friends, too.
After we got home, I finished polyurethaning the rest of the porch furniture.
There were some other small things I got crossed off my list this week, too. It has been a very productive week! Now, don’t get me wrong, most weeks of the summer are not like this…this just happened to be a good week to do some projects.
We’ve also been up to a few other things this week..
Like picking and eating the delicious squash and zucchini out of our garden.
And these two have seriously been like monkeys, spending more time in our trees than on the ground!
I’ve also been taking pictures every day for my 100 days project. It really is forcing me to learn more and more about my camera. I will post this week’s tomorrow!
Good night, y’all!
