You are officially NOT a baby anymore. You are FIVE years old. These past five years have nearly flown by, and I am having a hard time believing that my baby is old enough to start school now. But I am excited. I have loved every age with you, and every new stage, and know these new stages will be no less exciting or fun. It is hard to believe, though, that this is the last of my monthly letters to you- you are a big boy now!
You’ve had an exciting last month as a four year old-going to Monster Jam, going to Vandy games with Nana and Shshr, having some MAJOR snow and sledding down a “ginormous” hill for the first time, getting staples in your head (again), and getting to spend the night with Nana.
Here are some quick facts about you at five years old: You are still a tiny thing, only 38 lbs and just now getting into 4t clothes. You make up for your tiny-ness, though, with your huge personality. You love all breakfast foods. You would live on oatmeal, sausage and biscuits, cinnamon rolls, pancakes, and eggs if we would let you. You are also a big fruit fan. Bananas, apples, oranges, grapes, cantaloupe, watermelon, you love it all. You are a sweet tea fan like your Momma, and you also love chocolate almond milk. You love all things with wheels, but monster trucks are still your favorite. You love Star Wars and Power Rangers, and playing on your Daddy’s iPad still tops your list of things to do. You love your Daddy, fiercely. He is your favorite play buddy besides Josie. Your love for Jo is amazing. You are each other’s best friend, and you love nothing more than to have a day at home with her, pretending and playing, and sleeping in your sleeping bags together. You love to be outside, bike riding, riding your go cart, or kicking a soccer ball. You love to follow Pappy around all the time. “Dreen” (Green) is still your definite favorite color. You love all things camo. You are excited to start school. You ask me often when it is time for you to go to JECA (Next day, Mommy?) You still say “my” instead of “I,” no matter how often we correct you- “Why would my not?” You have always have an idea or a plan- BIG plans. You are pretending to be some sort of animal 99 % of the time.
You have a BIG heart, and such a love and compassion for other people. You have a great sense of humor, and love to tell “jokes.” You keep us smiling and laughing all the time. You smile all the time! That dimple is crazy cute. You are ticklish and you love to make noise. You still want me to “pat-pat” you every night, and you can’t go to sleep without your blankie and a “sleeping buddy.” You are our sweet, sweet boy.
Happy Birthday, Jack-I can’t wait to see what this new year brings for you!
I love you to the moon and back,
