Whew! What a weekend we have had! It was a good one, and a productive one, but it was a weekend that makes me need another weekend. 🙂 School (for me) starts tomorrow, though, so I wanted to get some last minute things done. School for Josie starts next Monday.

We started out the weekend with a date night with our good friends Justin and Amanda. The kiddos spent the night with Grammy and Pappy, and we met our friends at Sam’s for dinner, then went to see the new Mission Impossible movie. It was great to catch up with them, and the movie was great!

Saturday morning I had a photo shoot at Moss Wright Park, and then I went to get the kiddos and headed home. In the afternoon I checked off one of my last things on my summer chores list- polyurethaning some furniture and a sign that hangs on our barn. Here are some “before” shots- I forgot to take the “after” shots!

I love polyurethaning old things- restoring their finish, making them shine. It is relaxing. 🙂

While I painted, the kids picked some veggies out of the garden and opened up a produce stand- I love how gardens can open up imaginations. 🙂

Saturday night Jake grilled yummy kabobs- chicken and onions with bell peppers, tomatoes, and zucchini fresh from our garden.

After dinner I ran to Aldi’s to do some grocery shopping (I hadn’t been to the grocery store since BEFORE we went camping).

Today it was great to be back at church- I always miss it when we aren’t there. After church we went to lunch with some of our sweet church friends, and then ran some errands. Jack was asleep when got home, so we all laid down and took some much needed naps.

Tonight I spent several hours in the kitchen, making freezer meals to get ahead for our busy upcoming few months. Tomorrow starts soccer season for both kids and Jake, cross country season for me, and school. I knew I would feel better if I got some meals in the freezer.

I made 3 batches of from scratch Sloppy Joes, 2 Mexican lasagnas, a sausage rice casserole, prepped a teriyaki chicken crockpot meal, peeled and cut 4 lbs of carrots, cut up a head of cauliflower and a head of broccoli, and cut a cantaloupe from our garden (they have been SOOOO good this year). Jack and Josie even helped-they love to peel carrots. Then I had to mop my floor, because this weekend alone I spilled an entire glass of tea, dropped 2 chicken breasts, and spilled a half a bottle of teriyaki sauce. I have never been known for my grace. 🙂

Whew! Now tomorrow I will start tackling my school to do list before open house on Friday. Here we go!
