Today we woke up early, packed up, ate breakfast, and hit the road. We drove all the way to Atlanta, only stopping once for bathroom and once for lunch. The kids did great again in the car, and I never even had to pull my trump card (watching movies on the iPad). We finished one of our audio books- The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
We made it to Atlanta around 4:00, and went straight to the Georgia Aquarium. We had not told the kids where we were going, only that we had a surprise for them. They were so excited when they figured it out! We had a great time at the aquarium. It was really neat. They have the biggest salt water tank in America, and we saw Beluga whales, whale sharks, penguins, and the BEST dolphin show. We stayed until they closed at 8:00.
After we left the aquarium, we stopped to get a quick dinner, and then I changed the kids into their pjs so they could sleep in the car while we drove the rest of the way home. It worked great, and they slept for the last 4 hours of our drive to home. We drove through some awful rain, but we made it fine, and got back to the house at about 12:30 (central time).
It was a great trip, but I have never been so glad to see my house, my bed, and my own bathroom. 🙂
Really, seriously, this was an amazing trip, and I am SO glad we decided to do it. Definitely seeing a lot of road trips in our future……we will just have to get a new tent! 🙂
