Birthday festivities…day 3

So Josie tends to have a birthday week of celebration, instead of just a day, and this birthday is no different. She went on a birthday date with Nana and Shshr last week, a birthday date with Mee-Maw yesterday, and then today was her actual birthday. We are still going to do her annual family birthday date, but this year she has picked ice skating, and the skating rink is not open on Tuesdays, so we couldn’t do it today. And then she is going to have a small friend party on Saturday…..I think she is milking this one for all it’s worth. 🙂

Today was a pretty low-key birthday celebration, but I think she enjoyed it. This morning I put up her birthday banner, and Jack wrapped the present he picked out for her- sidewalk chalk and a clipboard (we always let the kids pick out something small to give each other).

Then I woke Josie up and we headed to the Donut Palace, an awesome donut shop really close to where we live. The birthday kid always gets to pick the breakfast, and ours ALWAYS pick donuts. And she specified donuts from the Donut Palace. 🙂

So she picked out her donuts, and we headed home to sing Happy Birthday and eat the birthday breakfast.

The rest of the day was pretty normal. We went to swim lessons, and Josie did a great job- she swam the whole length of the pool by herself, and jumped off the diving board 4 times all by herself! So proud. Jack did a great job, too. He is getting stronger every day.

This afternoon Josie had guitar (where Ms. Janet told her she looked older, and she didn’t even know it was her birthday!), and then we went to our normal Tuesday night dinner at Mee-Maw’s with the family. Since family dinner night just happened to fall on her birthday, Mee-Maw made Josie’s favorite- hamburgers 🙂 and I brought cake for dessert.

Josie decided she wanted Oreo ice cream cake this year, so I made one homemade. It doesn’t look very pretty, but it tasted good, and she was thrilled, so that is all that matters.

It is NOT easy to write with chocolate syrup!

Happy Birthday, sweet girl!
