Playdates and Pitchforks

Well, we have settled into our summer routine quite nicely around here. Which means we go outside in the morning for yard work and playing while it’s cool, run errands or do inside things after lunch, and head back outside after supper until it’s dark and past kiddo bedtimes. 🙂 Which also means that I fall off the blogging train at some point, because we are just having fun. 🙂

We have been doing some major yard work this year. Finished our raised bed gardens, started 3 new flower beds, and did some revising to all the existing flowerbeds around the house. I cleaned out beds and mulched everything this week, which is no small job-but I enjoyed every minute of it. I SO enjoy digging in the dirt and working in my gardens- it is so stress relieving, so much fun. Hard work? Yes, but I’ve never been one to shy away from hard work.

Josie, Jack, and I have also been squeezing in lots of playdates and fun things we don’t get to do during the school year.

Last Friday we went to see our sweet church friends at their new house and spent the day playing in their little pool.

These four have always been such sweet friends! And I love their momma dearly, and always love a chance to catch up with her. 🙂

Look how much they’ve grown!

Friday night the kids spent the night with Mee Maw, and Saturday I had a photo shoot in Nashville, so Jake and I had a breakfast date at this restaurant called Biscuit Love……..SO yummy, and I just love time alone with this handsome guy.

Saturday afternoon was a big Smith family get together at Nana’s house. She is one of 12, so it is always a big crowd!

Monday I had errands to run in H’ville, so we stopped by at Jack’s best friend’s house to play for a bit.

These two love each other dearly, and Josie is good big sister to not mind tagging along on her little brother’s play dates (and same goes for Jack on her playdates!) 🙂

Tuesday was fun day for the kids. Nana and Shshr took them both on their birthday dates (a bit late for Jack, a bit early for Jo). They had a blast going to Opry Mills and shopping and eating at the Rainforest Cafe. I am so grateful for this village that is helping raise and love (and spoil) our kiddos.  🙂

Wednesday was a busy day. A sweet family at our church is adopting a baby, and they needed some extra help with their kiddos for the day, so I said I’d be happy to- my kids love having friends over! So they spent the day with us.

Wednesday night we finally got to have our sweet friends Dan and Hannah over for dinner. Dan’s sister got to come, too! We have been trying to have them over forever, but their schedule is even crazier than ours, so it is tricky. Dan is in an awesome band, Mama Dear (check them out!). We were so glad to finally get to spend some time with them, and our kids were over the moon-they love Mr. Dan and Mrs. Hannah!

Yesterday I met my sweet friend Stacy for lunch and took the kiddos with me. It was so good to catch up with her! We went by and visited Nana and Lane for a bit, too. Lane misses his Jack now that he isn’t at Nana’s every day!

It’s been a good week. Summer is good, my friends.
