Weekending

This weekend was absolutely lovely and cup-filling. It was full of friends, relaxing, and sunshine.

We started out with Friday night-Jake invited a couple of friends over to play video games. The kids had a great time convincing “Mr. Smoky” to look at their monster truck book…. more than twice. After the kids went to bed, I curled up in my bed and watched a bunch of cheesy TV while the guys played…it was lovely.

Saturday was a rainy, lazy day. Perfect for sleeping late, eating late, naps, and reading on the couch. And we did all of those things. Then our sweet friends came over for some dinner and card playing. Our kiddos were thrilled to no end, and I think their kiddos had as much as fun as ours. 🙂 We had lots of love and laughter, for sure!

Today after church we went to our friends Justin (a.k.a. Mr. Smoky) and Amanda’s house to help them move some dirt. The kids were ecstatic to have an excuse to get as dirty as possible, and the sunshine was SOO nice. I am so ready for Spring to be here to stay!

Later this afternoon Jake had a church meeting, so I took the kiddos to the playground while we waited for him to be done. They both crashed SO hard on our way home-they were worn out!

I am so sad this weekend is over…It was SUCH a good one.

Jack’s 3 year old pictures

Last week on Spring Break, I finally got around to taking Jack’s three year old pictures…I just hate to take his yearly pictures in February, when it is so cold and drab outside, so I have usually just waited until a pretty day in March. Photo shoots with Jack never last longer than about 15 minutes, because that is all he can handle. I think I got some pretty good ones…..and some silly ones, because Jack is a silly kid. Those are always my favorites, anyways, because they really show his personality. So without further adieu, here are my faves…..

Laundry room makeover

Last week our washer broke. And since it (and they dryer) was ten years old (we were amazed it lasted that long!), we decided it would be better to get a new set than to have it repaired.

Anyways, since we were replacing the machines, we decided it was finally time to paint and redo the shelfs in the closet, something we’ve only wanted to do since we moved in…..8 years ago. 😛 I forgot to take a good “before” picture….

But just imagine this closet, with nasty white wire BROKEN shelves. Yeah.

This is after I had painted it (the color matches our shower curtain) and Jake had put the shelf brackets up (he is REALLY handy to have) :).

Shelves! That are not broken! That are actual wood! (We stained them).

After. Jake even made a counter top to go on top of the washer and dryer. 🙂

Just a few more after pics:

Yesterday we had a MARATHON of a day.

It started with a dentist appointment for me at 7:30. Then on to a (much needed!) eye appointment for me at 9:00. Next we headed to the zoo with some sweet friends. My kiddos have literally been counting down the days to zoo day-they were SO excited to see the new kangaroo exhibit. We had a blast at the zoo, even though it was pretty chilly.

From the zoo we headed to get my allergy shots, and then Josie and Jack had a dentist appointment. This was Jack’s first appointment, and he did GREAT. He hopped right up there like he’d done it a million times, and let them do everything without one fuss or hesitation. I was so very proud of them, and the hygienists and dentist were so impressed!

We ended our marathon day with Josie’s guitar lesson and driving home to fix dinner.

It was such a good day spent with my kiddos-but whew! Makes me tired just remembering it :).
