happened at our house last night! Jack slept from 9:00-4:20!! AND then he went BACK to sleep until 6:00!! This has never happened around this house, so I am a bit excited. 🙂
Bedtime routine didn’t change last night, but he did eat 2 HEAPING bowls of cereal and bananas yesterday. One for breakfast, and one after we finished dinner. He ate every last bite, too. My “recipe” for his cereal is: 2 tbs rice cereal, half jar of bananas, and 1 oz breastmilk, all mixed together. So he ate ALL of that, twice, and also a little bit of bananas by themselves! He also drank some water out of his sippy cup :). Oh, and I forgot to mention that he took a 2 ½ hour nap yesterday afternoon, something else that never happens unless he is in his carseat (and even then it’s rare). So, I am not saying that cereal is helping him sleep better (yet)-but you better believe he is getting it again today!!
Well, I am off to go fix my little booger’s breakfast…
Since Dr. E gave us the go ahead, I went ahead and mixed up some bananas into Jack’s cereal tonight. As I mentioned before, Jack is NOT a fan of cereal-he normally just whines and cries and spits it out the entire time I am trying to feed him. Well, you can see for yourself what he thought of the bananas! He scarfed up almost the entire bowl (about a tablespoon and a half of cereal, and about a half of a small jar of bananas). He was in SUCH a good mood after he finished, too. :). Maybe this will be the key to getting him to sleep better….here’s to hoping, anyways!
Today both of the kiddos had doctor appointments. Josie had her 3 year well check, and Jack just needed to have some routine blood work and a weight check. I am SO glad my ped’s office will schedule their appointments at the same time-makes it SO much easier :).
Josie’s appointment went great. She is perfectly healthy, and right on track with weight/height. She was 31 pounds, which is the 78th percentile, and 37 inches tall, which is the 61st percentile. So my little bitty squirt who wouldn’t grow when she was first born is now taller and bigger than at least half of the other girls her age! 🙂 They also went ahead and did a vision/hearing screening for her. The nurse said they usually just attempt these screenings at the 3 year well check, and just write down they attempted, because most three year olds can’t do the screenings well enough to get an accurate result. Well, Josie did AWESOME. She did just what the nurse told her to do, and passed both with flying colors-her nurse was very impressed, and I was very proud of her. 🙂
The only concern Dr. E had about Josie is that her ear tubes have still not fallen out, so he gave us a referral to see Dr. C, Josie’s ENT.
Jack’s part of the appointment went pretty well, too. Getting his blood drawn was no fun 🙁 (for either of us!) After I fed him, though, he perked up and started smiling and flirting with the nurses :). His weight was 11 lbs, 7 oz-he had only gained 1 ounce in 2 weeks! I was a little concerned (and annoyed! I feed him all.the.time), but Dr. E said that he was not worried, that Jack is just fine. He did give us the go ahead to start mixing some food in with his cereal, though, in an effort to get him to actually eat it. He needs the calories! 🙂 I was excited, because I love trying new foods with babies-their reactions are always so funny!
We are so blessed to have such beautiful, healthy, growing kiddos :).
Before we left to go camping, Mama Judy asked me to take pictures of all the grandkids. We hadn’t gotten to take any good ones since Jack was born, so it was past due! It ended up raining most of the day we chose to do it, but we were able to squeeze in some picture time in between the rain (or when it was just sprinkling!) It is DEFINITELY a challenge taking pictures of 7 kids ages 4 months-13 years-but I think we were able to get a few good ones :).
Abby, Matthew, and Carley
Josie and Jack….they were DEFINITELY the most challenging to take pictures of…
We actually left for camping on Josie’s actual birthday, which thrilled her to no end :). We always start her birthday off with candles in whatever food she chooses to have…on this birthday she decided to have chocolate donuts :).
Then we gave her a small present from us (since we gave her our main present at the party). I found a Princess Melissa and Doug wooden magnetic dress up doll set at the last consignment sale (for $5-woohoo!) that I tucked away just for this. She LOVED them!
Before we left for camping, I took Josie to her last swimming lesson. We also took some pink and purple cupcakes to share with her friends :).
Josie’s cupcake of choice? Purple, of course!
Happy Birthday to my big girl!
I love the way vacuuming can make your whole house feel cleaner :).
