One word

Somebody’s blog I read today posed a question: give one word to describe your mother. So, I tried….only to discover I couldn’t. I couldn’t choose just one word to describe my mother. My mother is too many things to just choose one.

My mother is kind, caring, and genuine. She is honest, truthful, and brave. She is the most creative person I know. She is beyond patient. She is absolutely the hardest working person I have ever met. She is a teacher, a healer. My mother would sacrifice anything and everything for another person-especially her kids. She is a Christian-on the inside and the outside. Her light shines for everyone who comes in contact with her. She is a rock-she is not easily discouraged or upset. She is a good listener, and a good advice-giver. She is the best disciplinarian-she was always able to correct us in just the right way, without ever tearing us down. She is my friend-the one I can tell absolutely anything to without any fear of being put down or judged. She is also the one I can come to if I need an honest opinion-about anything. I can laugh, cry, smile, sigh, and talk with my mother. My mother is the one who taught me how to be a mother. My goal in life is to be just half the mom to my kids that she was to me-and I would be the best mom around!

God blessed me immeasurably when He gave my mom-something I will never take for granted, something I will never be able to deserve. I would not be the person I am today without my mom. And that is not something I can take lightly, not something I can sum up in just one word.
